Requesting Web Services

The web team maintains the FGCU home page, audience pages, and several other areas of the FGCU web and is available to assist with the design and implementation of websites and web applications for colleges, departments, and special events.
Web services available to faculty, and staff include:
  • Web site planning and graphical design
  • Web Application development
  • Web to Database connectivity
  • Media preparation (graphics, art, etc.)
  • Audio and Video on your Web site
  • Photography (digital and 35 mm)
  • Scanning (flatbed, slide, etc.)
  • Adding interactivity to web sites
  • Web site analysis and statistics

What is involved with creating a website?
 
  1. Site Definition
    * Initial meeting with Client (Faculty, Staff, etc.)
    * Concept for site developed
    * Site Goals Defined

  2. Develop Site Structure
    * Identify Content
    * We Create a Sitemap for approval by client
    * We Develop Navigation

  3. Graphic Design
    * We develop concepts for review by client
    * We Create Initial interface, images, etc.

  4. Site Design
    *We lay-out the homepage and sub-pages
    * We test 1st draft of site

  5. Quality Assurance of Site and Final Review
    * Spell check, us and client
    * Check for consistency, us and client
    * Browser compatibility checks, us and client
    * Monitor resolution checks, us and client
    * Hyperlinks checks, us and client
