Here are some details about Lee County's Hearing Examiner recommending denial of a new mining application. It contains some useful details for others.
I’ve posted the full HEX recommendation:

Worthwhile reading…

Thanks Don – Corkscrew owes a huge debt of gratitude to you and all of our friends in Estero proper.
The complete report from the HEX is quite interesting, and very encouraging overall. It includes a transcript of a private meeting between the HEX, County Atty, and the other attys in the case where they discussed the disruption caused when we brought in our expert witness. Intriguing reading which reveals some external players in the overall scheme. The full report is a large file which I’ll post to the website later tonight rather than tie up my slow internet connection trying to email it. Will send you the link when it’s up.

Subject: Great news! Estero Group Mine
Dear Corkscrew Neighbors & Friends,
I’ve just received word that the Lee County Hearing Examiner has recommended DENIAL of the Estero Group Mine IPD zoning case. Thanks to everyone who participated by providing testimony during this long and grueling public hearing. I’m deeply grateful for Tom Hart’s expertise in leading the legal challenge to this threat against the quality of life in our neighborhood and also to Bill and Jim Lytell for absorbing most of the cost for this expensive endeavor. (By the way, if you’ve been meaning to send Tom Hart a check, but haven’t done it yet – this is your reminder.)
Of course, the HEX recommendation is just that. The Board of County Commissioners will have the final say in a vote – most likely a couple of months from now, and we’ll need to be there in full force to defend the recommendation. I’ll keep you posted on when that will be. The summary of the HEX recommendation is attached.
Thanks for all your help.
